DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 28th November 2024

It all started with a heavy overcast and a cracking thunderstorm at noon.
Sixteen DAC Sailors braved the above, and it all cleared nicely to start our sailing, on time.
The temperature kindly dropped from 31 to 26oC and a gentle Nor’Easter settled in with a light sprinkle for a short while.
“A” sails were the choice after a few “B” ‘s were tested, and changed. The wind speed ranged around 4 to 9 Km/Hr., (2 to 5 Knots).
Many thanks to Trevor Bowden who arrived for racing but had a major receiver failure just before race1. Trevor kindly offered to be Race Officer for the day.
He ran a tight ship and had us all quickly readied for each next race.
Graham Brown dominated the day with 4 firsts and 2 second places. Some of Graham’s wins were by a significant margin. His winning score was 8 points. The main contenders for honours were Stephen Deane, Robin Tickner and Martin Thearle. Stephen nicely dealt with the varying conditions to take mostly places with his 2 firsts and finish second overall with 15 points. Robin secured his place on the podium with his win and 3 places, scoring 19 points. Martin who is a recent joiner to our fleet continues to score well. His first and 2 places continues his consistency from recent race days.
There weren’t too many places left for the rest. Myself, Bruce Paterson, Lew Verdon an Ron Garner each managed a place.
Race winners were Graham Brown 4, Stephen Deane 2, Robin Tickner 1 and Martin Thearle 1.
Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 8 points.
Stephen Deane finished in 2nd place on 16 points.
Robin Tickner finished in 3rd place with 19 points.
The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Martin Thearle.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 5th December for a Handicap Event.
