DAC Results, Handicap Racing, Thu 2nd May 2024

We had fifteen DAC Sailors for yesterday’s Handicap Event.

Even though we had another patchy Southerly, we were lucky with dry conditions.

The temperature struggled to reach 20oC and the wind range was 3 to 15 Km/Hr., (2 to 8 Knots). I guess that’s not too bad for late Autumn.

Our new Deck is coming along nicely and with better access to the ramp and pontoon we are back to dry launches.

Our Champion of the day was Bruce Paterson. Bruce comfortably won the first 2 races and as his adjusting handicap kicked in, he had to mix it with the rest of the Fleet. Another win in race 6 gave him a final score of 24 points. Phil Stevenson was again the longest marker but still managed to come home in second place. Phil’s score of 26 points included 3 places and all finishes in the front group. Robin Tickner was close behind Phil. He also had a long handicap but he read the conditions well for third. Robin led the next group of 5 boats with only a point or two between them. There were a couple of countbacks to settle ties and as expected on a Handicap day, places went well down the page.

Race winners were Bruce Paterson 3, Stephen Deane 2, Rob Lowndes 1, Judy Evans 1.

Bruce Paterson took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 24 points.

Phil Stevenson finished in 2nd place on 26 points.

Robin Tickner finished in 3rd place with 32 points.

The Club Championship now has Phil Stevenson in front from Graham Brown and Robin Tickner.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 9th May for a Scratch Event.
