DAC Results, Handicap Racing, Thu 4th September 2025

It’s the first week of Spring and the Westerlies are still with us, we’re up to it though.
Fifteen DAC Sailors came along for our monthly Handicap sail.
It was a warm day , reaching 24oC. The wind started around 12 and gradually increased to 37 Km/Hr., in gusts, (6 to 20 Knots).
B sails were chosen at the beginning with a progression through C’s to D’s for the last few races. As expected a moderate chop developed.
Once again the handicaps were the great leveller. We had close scores with wins and places across the scoresheet. You had to sail well as the competition was strong.
Robin Tickner won the day with 2 places and a consistent range of finishes in the front of the fleet. Robin scored 28 points to lead the field. Noel McPherson had his boat back in excellent working order after the weekend to secure second place. Noel also had a brace of high finishes with 3 places and 30 points scored. Graham Brown was the first of the front group to take a win. Scoring 34 points, Graham added a 2nd and 3rd to earn third place. Stephen Deane was at the rough end of some knocks but still managed a win to come home with the fourth position. Peter Burton also had some successful repairs after the weekend and put them to good use with a win and place.
There were only a couple of points over rest of the boats with failures ending Trevor Bowden’s day. Trevor picked up the scoresheet for us, making it an easier day with the paperwork, thanks Trevor.
Phil Stevenson and Peter Burton were our long markers at the beginning. They continued to sail well and were joined by Noel McPherson and Graham Brown with sizable handicaps for next time.
Race winners were Graham Brown 1, Stephen Deane 1, Peter Burton 1, Narelle Derwent 2, Martin Thearle 1, Judy Evans 1 and Bruce Hilliard 2..
Robin Tickner took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 28 points.
Noel McPherson finished in 2nd place on 30 points.
Graham Brown finished in 3rd place with 34 points.
The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Noel McPherson.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 11th September for a Scratch Event.
