DAC Results, Handicap Racing, Thu 5th March 2026

We had a good day’s sailing for 17 DAC Sailors today.
We started with a drifter for the first few races and we all perked up as a gentle Easterly arrived. The temperature started at 33oC but reduced to a very pleasant 27oC as the breeze reached its peak of 19 Km/Hr., (10 Knots).
A sails appeared at the start and we all chose B sails after race 2.
It was a Handicap day, and as expected, everyone was in with a chance.
Scoring and calculations between each race slow us up a bit but many thanks to all who helped out during the day.
Our nominated Race Officers had little to do, so a big thanks to everyone. As always, racing does have a few infringements but everyone played their part. Our penalty turns are becoming very efficient.
Our winner for the day is Trevor Bowden. Trevor scored 20 points with his first in race 6 and all finishes at 5 or better. Breathing down Trevor’s neck was Robin Tickner, his main challenger. Robin scored 21 points with his first in race 4 and 2 places. Phil Stevenson came home in third place scoring 25 points. All three, Trevor, Robin and Phil started with long handicaps, great sailing by them all had them firmly on the podium.
Credit to Paula Reilly. Paula started on a modest handicap but sailed well all day to continue scoring well, despite her start time increasing. The race winners follow, but in a large fleet, to take a place or two is also a good effort. Well done to Lew Verdon, Bruce Paterson, Brian Chapman, John Porter, Karen Paterson, Peter Hirschl and Richard Thorpe.
Race winners were Trevor Bowden 1, Robin Tickner 1, Paula Reilly 2, Philip Hetherington 2 and Noel McPherson 1.
Trevor Bowden took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 20 points.
Robin Tickner finished in 2nd place on 21 points.
Phil Stevenson finished in 3rd place with 25 points.
The Club Championship now has Martin Thearle in front from Robin Tickner and Phil Stevenson.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 12th March for a Scratch Event.
