Dobroyd RC Lasers 20251211

Good morning Everyone,

We had thirteen DAC Sailors for yesterday’s Scratch racing.

The conditions were difficult to say the least. Wind shading from our Clubhouse made our sailing challenging.

Close to forecast, the wind direction hovered around the South to South East. The speed varied from 13 to 38 Km/Hr., (7 to 20 Knots).

The gusts proved too sharp for B sails, so we chose C’s for the day.

We set two courses, one each to the East and West. The transition of our boats from one to the other was time consuming which resulted in only 7 races completed.

There were many occasions when a good lead could be snuffed out in an instant while searching for a zephyr. The lulls were a trial.

Once again, the cream always rises with the wins and top places mostly taken by the front runners.

Graham Brown made the best of the challenge to win the day by a close margin. Three wins and three places set a score of 10 points for Graham’s trophy. Phil Stevenson matched Graham well with his 3 wins and 2 places. Phil scored 12 points for his second place. The main challengers for top honours were Noel McPherson and Martin Thearle, with Noel taking third place with 19 points.

Places went a little down the list with Judy Evans, Lew Verdon and Rob Lowndes earning those remaining.

Race winners were, Graham Brown 3, Phil Stevenson 3 and Martin Thearle 1.

Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 10 points.

Phil Stevenson finished in 2nd place on 12 points.

Noel McPherson finished in 3rd place with 19 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Martin Thearle.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 18th December for a Scratch Event.
