Sixteen DAC Sailors enjoyed a pleasant Winters’s day with scratch racing this afternoon.

The temperature reached 16oC and the breeze gently swung from Southwest to South at 7 to 23 Km/Hr., (4 to 12 Knots).

Smooth waters had A sails for the most part with quite a few B’s having a go for the later races.

Once again our Deck was a bit of a sun trap and we completed 9 races in good time.

Although the top three boats were well ahead of the fleet on the scoresheet, there were many who had some good sailing and finished well.

Phil Stevenson reached his peak today. Phil won 5 races and took a second and third to score 10 points and take home the trophy by lead of several furlongs. The only contenders who had a chance were Peter Burton and Graham Brown. Each had a win and several places, with Peter coming second and Graham third.

There was a sizable gap to the following places with Bruce Paterson leading the charge. Bruce won race 6 and was well in the front group with all his finishes. Rob Lowndes was next with his win in race 7, closely followed by Judy Evans,  Stephen Deane and Lew Verdon. These Folks grabbed most of the remaining places. Others to take a place or two were Geoff Lucas, Narelle Derwent and Ron Garner.

Race winners were Phil Stevenson 5, Peter Burton 1, Graham Brown 1, Bruce Paterson 1 and Rob Lowndes 1.

Phil Stevenson took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 10 points.

Peter Burton finished in 2nd place on 21 points.

Graham Brown finished in 3rd place with 22 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Noel McPherson.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 19th June for a Scratch Event.
