DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 13th March 2025

What a cracker of a day!
A Nor’Easter at 5 to 14 Km/Hr., (3 to 8 Knots), 27oC and clear skies, couldn’t ask for better.
Thirteen DAC Sailors came along to enjoy all this for our Scratch day’s racing.
A mix of sails was used. Most chose “A” ‘s and “B” ‘s with a lone “C” in sight by the end of play.
The course was set in front of the Deck with minor adjustments needed.
Race Officers were “volunteered” to keep it clean and they were kept moderately busy. Thank you to them.
Only 4 DNF’s and few rescues had us completing our full 10 races in good time, well done all!
This breeze always gives a developing chop which reached about 150mm by the last race.
It was a day of very keen racing. Many boats at the start gun were only separated by the width of a cigarette paper, (and quite a few times less).
There was quite a bit of congestion at the windward mark with several boats under-laying and then having to pinch up and still clobbering the buoy.
It was a good opportunity to gain places if one was to take a wide berth and count their blessings.
The score sheet positions were gently spread. By the end of race 10, there seemed to be many in contention for the day’s prize.
Graham Brown won the battle to score 18 points and win the day. Graham won 3 races and placed 4 times. Stephen Deane maintained his consistency with 2 firsts and 4 places to come home second with 21 points. Phil Stevenson is always in the picture and today was no different. Phil seemed to be anywhere in the fleet, but by the finish of each race he was there to score 27 points with 3 firsts and a place. Phil completed the trio on the podium, coming third.
Many Sailors had good results with wins and places going well down the page.
Race winners were Graham Brown 3, Stephen Deane 2, Phil Stevenson 3, Brendan Hones 1 and Robin Tickner 1.
Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 18 points.
Stephen Deane finished in 2nd place on 21 points.
Phil Stevenson finished in 3rd place with 27 points.
The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Noel McPherson.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 20th March for a Scratch Event.
