What a great day’s racing!

Nineteen DAC Sailors came along for our Scratch racing today.

We were blessed with ideal sailing conditions. Our preferred Nor’Easter started the day and gradually increased.

We enjoyed a temperature of 24oC and a breeze ranging 17 up to 32 Km/Hr., (9 to 17 Knots).

Initially we thought of B sails but that was short lived as C’s were preferred by all.

A light to moderate chop steadily developed during the racing.

The results showed again that our fleet standard is continuing to improve. There was a close spread of scores with many boats either having a win or place.

Many thanks to those deputised as Race Officers. They all did a great job and kept it a fair and friendly day on the water.

Peter Burton led the day to score 22 points. Peter needed 3 wins and a place to win the day. Phil Stevenson was a close second with 23 points. His score included 2 wins and 2 places. Robin Tickner was the main challenger with his win in race 3. Robin came third with 26 points. Graham Brown and Martin Thearle completed the front runners to each score 32 points. Graham took the guernsey for fourth place after a countback with Martin coming fifth.

Stephen Deane was the leader of the middle contenders. Stephen had 3 places with a short gap to Noel McPherson. Noel had late start but came storming home with a win and 3 places, his next score being a fourth. Geoff Lucas, Judy Evans, Philip Hetherington, Lew Verdon and Trevor Bowden all sailed well to score a place or two. A good achievement in such a large and very competitive fleet.

Race winners were Peter Burton 3, Phil Stevenson 2, Robin Tickner 1, Graham Brown 1, Martin Thearle 1 and Noel McPherson 1.

Peter Burton took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 22 points.

Phil Stevenson took finished in 2nd place on 23 points.

Robin Tickner finished in 3rd place with 26 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Martin Thearle.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 20th November 2025 for a Scratch Event.
