At last, a dry day!

Fourteen DAC Sailors came along to enjoy our Scratch Event.

As forecast, there was an overcast with a steady Nor’Easter creating a moderate chop. The actual wind ranged from 14 to 23 Km/Hr, (8 to 12 Knots).

Sail choice was “C” ‘s to start, with “D” ‘s coming out for most towards the end.

We completed 10 Races in good time, with thanks to all. There was only 1 DNF recorded, and of the few rescues needed, most untangled themselves before the tender was dispatched.

We chose to use Race Officers due to the number of boats and Jill Brown assumed the position as Scorer and biscuit supplier, thank you Jill and all the RO‘s.

Our Racing got underway on time and Noel McPherson, after his R.O. duties in Race 1, started his dominance of the day with 5 wins. Noel persisted with his “C” sail and has certainly mastered downwind sailing in a challenging breeze. I would say he nosedived the least of us all. In several Races, Noel led by some distance at the finish line. Of the 8 scoring Races, Noel’s worst was 1 fourth. A little way back in second place, Phil Stevenson also scored highly in each Race. Phil only managed 1 win, but was always in the hunt for top places. Graham Brown, always at or on top of the Leaderboard, yesterday had to settle for third place. Graham had a win in Race 1 and scored 3 second places to come third on the day.

Brendan has adapted to his boat #197 and is always in the mix of things. Brendan won Race 3 and was always in the front group of the Fleet. Terry Hey, Robin Tickner, Geoff Lucas, and Peter Close completed the next group. There were only 4 points between them with Terry and Robin both on 40, settled by a countback.

Race winners were Noel McPherson  5, Phil Stevenson 1, Graham Brown 1, Brendan Hones 1, Terry Hey 1, and Peter Close 1.

Noel McPherson took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 14 points.

Phil Stevenson finished in 2nd place on 21 points.

Graham Brown finished in 3rd place with 30 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Peter Close.
