DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 14th August 2025

Yesterday fifteen DAC Sailors endured poor weather for a good day’s sailing.
The forecast, “partly cloudy and 17oC” was somewhat off.
We chose A sails and raced with a light Sou’Westerly at 6 to 20 Km/Hr., (3 to 11 Knots).
The temperature struggled to 12oC and it drizzled continuously.
Such was our efficiency, and with everyone’s enthusiasm, we sailed 11 races comfortably by 3:pm.
The standard of our Fleet continues to improve. There were no easy points to score with everyone achieving some high finishes at some stage of the day’s racing. I feel the DAC group will be quite competitive for the upcoming Nationals (August 29-31).
The light breeze was a little fickle at times. There were opportunities to skirt many boats as the windward mark was quite congested on both legs.
Peter Burton won the day comfortably scoring 28 points. Peter won 2 and had 4 seconds to complete his day. Graham Brown is returning to his better days with 3 wins and a place to score 34.5 points and second on the day. Judy Evans continues her recent consistency with 3 places to score 44 points. All Judy’s races were in the front half of the Fleet and gave her third place.
The remainder of boats had their points fairly close together. All Sailors had some finishes at 5 or better.
Martin Thearle (2 wins) and Lew Verdon shared many places between them with Robin Tickner completing the top 6.
Boats following needed just a place or two better to completely rearrange the lower scoresheet, concentration maybe!
Race winners were Peter Burton 2, Graham Brown 3, Martin Thearle 2, Geoff Lucas 2, Rob Lowndes 1 and Brian Chapman 1.
Peter Burton took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 28 points.
Graham Brown finished in 2nd place on 34.5 points.
Judy Evans finished in 3rd place with 44 points.
The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Martin Thearle.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 21st August for a Scratch Event.
