Dobroyd RC Lasers 20250918

What a glorious day on the water at Dobroyd Aquatic Club today. A blue sky and a mostly steady north easterly made for perfect sailing conditions. We sailed 10 races all with B sails. No sail or course changes required and only one de-masting requiring a rescue. The only dampener on the day was the nor-easter also brought with it weed down the bay, which we haven’t experienced for a long while. Most of us had an encounter or two with the ‘boat stopping’ chunks being caught on our keels.

12 sailors participated in very tight racing, with not a great deal of distance between the fleet. It is a pleasure to watch the skill level of the whole fleet developing which makes for exciting and close racing.  We welcomed to our RC Laser fleet Peter Hirschl today. Although a newcomer to RC Lasers he is not a newcomer to RC sailing. For his first day of racing the RC Laser Peter completed every race, which is no mean feat. Welcome Peter.

It was also great to see Cliff Bromley join us for a short while. I’m looking forward to Cliff popping is RC Laser back in the water.

Nearly every sailor today sailed a top four position with Geoff Lucas (1), Robin Tickner(2), Phil Stevenson (3) Graham Brown (2) and Trevor Bowden (1) all gaining first places.

The winner for today was Phil Stevenson with 19 points. Robin Tickner was 3 points behind in second with 22 and Graham Brown one point away with 23.

The club championship now has Graham Brown In front from Phil Stevenson and Martin Thearle.

Our next sail will be on Thursday 25th  September for a scratch event.
