DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 19th February 2026

Dobroyd RC Lasers 20260219

We had great conditions for our scratch racing today. The forecast Easterly had quite a bit of North in it. The windspeed ranged from 13 to 23 Km/Hr., with the occasional gust to 33, (7 to 13 Knots , gusts to 17). The temperature was quite hot beforehand but settled around 25oC for our racing. We love the Nor’Easters.

We had 12 DAC Sailors today and with good help from all, we completed our target of 10 races in good time.

The wind was light early which had us all with A sails. There was a gradual progression to B’s and then C’s by the end of racing.

Once again, our improving standards are reflected in the scoresheet.

Our top three sailors of the day had convincing positions at the top of the leader board.

Phil Stevenson led the charge with 4 firsts and a place to win the day. Phil scored 22 points. Noel McPherson came home in second place. Noel’s 24 points were from his first in race 9 and 4 places. Lew Verdon had a great day on the water with his first and 2 places. Lew scored 34 points to secure third place.

The following scores were quite close with few points separating fourth to tenth places. Martin Thearle is normally a high finisher. His firsts in races 6 and 7 had him well on the way but there was close competition and he had to settle for fifth. Judy Evans had three good places for the day. Robin Tickner very comfortably won race 2 but unfortunate clashes marred his recent form. Trevor Bowden won race 1 and placed in race 7. Methinks Trevor’s first scratch win with the Club! Philip Hetherington had some nice finishes in the front half of the Fleet and Peter Hirschl displayed his colours well to come second in race 7.

Race winners were Phil Stevenson 4, Noel McPherson 1, Lew Verdon 1, Martin Thearle 2, Robin Tickner 1 and Trevor Bowden 1.

Phil Stevenson took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 22 points.

Noel McPherson finished in 2nd place on 24 points.

Lew Verdon finished in 3rd place with 34 points.

The Club Championship now has Martin Thearle in front from Noel McPherson and Phil Stevenson.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 26th February for a Scratch Event.
