DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 19th June 2025

We had 10 DAC Sailors today for some scratch racing.
It was a very pleasant afternoon on the Deck, sunny and calm (unfortunately).
The temperature was pretty good for Winter at 17oC and glassy water on a high tide.
The were snippets of breeze. The direction swung throughout the compass and the speed ranged from 2 to 10 (only one puff) Km/Hr., (1 to 5 Knots).
It seemed a lottery on the water. Positions were continually changing as each race progressed and to slip from the front to last affected several boats during the day.
The conditions made for long races on a shortened course, we could only manage 6 races in our preferred time.
Those who mastered the conditions always made it to the front when it counts.
Phil Stevenson was the day’s Champion, winning 5 races for a perfect score of 5 points. Graham Brown scored 3 second and 2 third places for 12 points. Graham came home in second place for the day. Robin Tickner returned from his sabbatical to earn third place . Robin settled back into his good form to take 3 places. Noel McPherson won race 2 and on a tricky day, had all his finishes in the front half of the fleet. Lew Verdon had a similar day with all his results in the front half. Places were well earned by Stephen Deane, Judy Evans and Narelle Derwent.
In summary, it was a challenging day and as they say, “character building”.
Race winners were Phil Stevenson 5 and Noel McPherson 1.
Phil Stevenson took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 5 points.
Graham Brown finished in 2nd place on 12 points.
Robin Tickner finished in 3rd place with 16 points.
The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Noel McPherson.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 26th June for a Scratch Event.
