DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 20th November 2025

Great numbers today for our scratch racing. Seventeen DAC sailors looked to the forecast and decided to make a go of it.
We had a testy breeze from the Sou’South East at 9 up to 34 Km/Hr. in gusts, (5 to 18 Knots).
This direction is unfortunate as the course has to be set a fair way from the Deck. As it was, there was still quite a bit of wind shading but we made it work.
Thank you to our appointed Race Officers, again, well done.
We persevered with B sails, although a couple of C’s appeared towards the end. Some of the doldrums saw many positional changes during the racing, but we all had to deal with the same conditions.
The scores were closely spaced which is a little unusual for a scratch day.
Phil Stevenson had great success with all his finishes at 5 or better. Phil won the day with his win in race 2 and 3 places, he scored 17 points. Peter Burton came home in second place. His win and a place scored 21 points. Stephen Deane was a close third. Winning races 3 and 4 and with 2 places, Stephen scored 22 points.
There was a gradual increase in points with Graham Brown, Martin Thearle, Rob Lowndes, Robin Tickner, Philip Hetherington and Brian Chapman each taking a win or place at some stage. It was in all, good competitive sailing with little calls having to be made by the R.O.’s
Race winners were Phil Stevenson 1, Peter Burton 1, Stephen Deane 2, Graham Brown 1, Martin Thearle 1 and Brian Chapman 1.
Phil Stevenson took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 17 points.
Peter Burton finished in 2nd place on 21 points.
Stephen Deane finished in 3rd place with 22 points.
The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Martin Thearle.
Our next Sail day is Thursday27th November for a Scratch Event.
