DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 22nd May 2025

Well I guess we knew it was going to be wet, and it was.
There was a very heavy downpour on arrival but this cleared for our first 5 races.
Nine DAC Sailors courageously braved the threatening skies and we sailed 10 races with no rescues, thank heavens!
We set an Easterly course which started with us choosing A sails, then B’s with a few C’s towards the end.
The actual wind was 3 to 35 Km/Hr, swinging gently from South East to North East and increasing, (2 to 18 Knots).
We had passing showers towards the end. Although “humid”, 18oC wasn’t too bad.
We managed to sail some very competitive races.
There was some great racing and everyone should be congratulated for their participation.
There was a great tactical battle between Graham Brown and Martin Thearle. I suffered transmitter failure, (rain) and was able to watch some very good racing between Graham and Martin. They shared the bulk of the firsts and places with Graham taking the honours with 12 points. Martin scored 15 points for second place. These two Gents scored all firsts and places. The two following, Noel McPherson and Geoff Lucas were also in the high scoring range with every finish at 5 or better. Judy Evans (2) and Richard Thorpe (1) secured the 3 last places.
Race winners were Graham Brown 5, Martin Thearle 3, Noel McPherson 1 and Geoff Lucas 1.
Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 12 points.
Martin Thearle finished in 2nd place on 15 points.
Noel McPherson finished in 3rd place with 24 points.
The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Noel McPherson and Phil Stevenson.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 29th May for a Scratch Event.
