DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 24th September 2026
And Spring continues to bring us great sailing weather!
Eighteen DAC Sailors enjoyed a welcome Nor’Easter and a temperature around 22oC.
The wind speed was pretty much as forecast at 12 to 21Km/Hr with a peak of 31 by the end of sailing, (7 to 12 up to 16 Knots).
Lighter conditions at the start had us using B sails but we all changed to C’s after race 6.
Graham Brown set a slightly different course to cater for the large fleet. The start line was set further downwind with the finish in front of the Deck.
The reason was for the long work to ease the congestion at the top marks. It worked well.

There were many close tussles throughout the day. Graham Brown has returned to his best to win the day. Graham scored 19 points from his 5 wins and 2 places. His main opponents were Phil Stevenson and Noel McPherson and these three also snared most of the places. Phil came second with 25 points and Noel third with 34 points. Robin Tickner started his day perfectly with wins in races 1 and 2. Robin and Stephen Deane took the last of the wins as they both completed the top group. John Hickey had a hot and cold day. John’s 3 second places and a third came after his unique method of cooling down. Lew Verdon is sailing consistently well and if he can squeeze in the odd win will certainly move up the scale somewhat. Bruce Paterson and Trevor Bowden took the remaining places available, everyone counts.
Race winners were, Graham Brown 5, Phil Stevenson 3, Robin Tickner 2 and Stephen Deane 1
Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 19 points.
Phil Stevenson finished in 2nd place on 25 points.
Noel McPherson finished in 3rd place with 34 points.
The Club Championship now has Martin Thearle in front from Phil Stevenson and Graham Brown.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 1st October for a Handicap Event.
