DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 25th September 2025

Sixteen DAC Sailors attended our Scratch racing yesterday.
The weather was true to the forecast with a testing breeze that ranged from 13 to 50 Km/Hr., (7 to 27 Knots) in gusts, and there were plenty!
The direction swung quite a bit , mainly from the West. 26oC was nice.
The choice of sails was a guess. B’s struggled in the gusts and D’s faltered in the lulls.
With the range of wind speeds we saw, the chop didn’t fully develop so I guess that was a plus.
The racing was quite tight once we got going. The places were spread amongst many as each one’s choice of sail came to the fore.
Thank you to our appointed Race Officers. Congestion at the windward marks in gusty conditions kept them on their toes.
Graham Brown has returned to his best to comfortably win the day. Graham won 6 scored races to achieve a perfect score of 6 points. Robin Tickner and Noel McPherson were the main contenders but were unable to challenge Graham’s dominance.
Robin came second with a win and 2 places. Noel came home in third place, also with a first and 2 places. There was a small gap to Stephen Deane and Judy Evans, each scoring 3 places. A countback settling their results.
Going down the scoresheet, many boats scored well yesterday. The final numbers in many cases came down to just one race one hoped to forget.
Race winners were Graham Brown 6, Robin Tickner 1 and Noel McPherson 1.
Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 6 points.
Robin Tickner finished in 2nd place on 16.5 points.
Noel McPherson finished in 3rd place with 19 points.
The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Martin Thearle.
Our next Sail day is Thursday 2nd October for a Handicap Event.
