Dobroyd RC Lasers 20250626

Twelve DAC Sailors attended yesterday.

We endured a varying Southerly which swung quite a bit and ranged from 10 to 27Km/Hr., (6 to 14 Knots).

There was some patchy overcast which was a welcome relief to the glaring Sun. It reached 14oC.

“B” sails were it for the day.

Setting a course was a challenge. We started with a light Nor’Wester which gradually swung to the South by race time.

A lowering tide meant we sailed further out than normal. Some still grazed the bottom when sailing wide of the top mark.

As we swung the course several times we were a little late with the first race. Thank you to all as we still managed to fit in 9 races.

We are all grateful for having 2 drops!

After recent “slightly off the boil” times, Graham Brown returned to his best form. Graham won 4 races and with 3 places scored a meagre 12 points to win the day. There were three contenders for the 2 spare podium spots. Phil Stevenson led the charge with a 21 point score to secure second place after a countback. Phil had a win and 4 places. Robin Tickner took third place with a win and 2 places. Just 1 point behind, Judy Evans won races 5 and 7. Judy’s additional 3 places would normally earn a top 3 position but the competition was solid. Rob Lowndes won race 1 and looked to be heading for a higher position, but the opposition ahead was just warming up.

There were some good finishes with most boats featuring with towards the front at some stage of the day.

Places were also earned by Geoff Lucas and Philip Hetherington.

Race winners were Graham Brown 4, Robin Tickner 1, Phil Stevenson 1, Judy Evans 2 and Rob Lowndes 1.

Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 12 points.

Phil Stevenson finished in 2nd place on 21 points.

Robin Tickner finished in 3rd place with 21 points after a countback.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Noel McPherson.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 3rd July for a Handicap Event.
