Fourteen DAC Sailors came along for a sail today.

Our wishes for a Nor’Easter were answered and it arrived on time and slowly developed during the afternoon. It’s speed started around 20 and peaked at 32 Km/Hr for the last race, (11 to 17 knots). The air temperature was 26^oC and with clear skies, it was nice to have the breeze in our faces.

The course was nicely placed in front of the Deck and only needed a minor adjustment. There were few rescues and only 3 DNF’s all day.

We had a slight delay at the start as our scoreboard disappeared. It is normally stuck with magnets to the roller door (windsurfer lockers).

The roller was opened and up went the scoreboard, over the top and into the void. We found it!

And now back to the sailing.

We chose “C” sails.

It was another day of very competitive sailing. Most boats had finishes in the front of the fleet with many places going well down the page.

The wins were cornered by our perennial front runners with Graham Brown winning the day on 16 points. Phil Stevenson was hot on Graham’s heels with 3 firsts and 4 places. Phil scored 21 points to come home in second place. Noel McPherson and Robin Tickner had a great tussle all day, both scoring 29 points. Noel needed 2 wins and 2 places to break the deadlock and take third place after a countback. Rob Lowndes had another good day on the water and completed the leading group with all his finishes  at 6 or better. Martin Thearle was next best. A win in race 3, and he had all his finishes in the top half. A couple of places were against Judy Evans name with Richard Thorpe also featuring.

Although most wins were taken by Graham, Phil and Noel, there were many boats in contention during the day’s racing.

Race winners were Graham Brown 4, Phil Stevenson 3, Noel McPherson 2 and Martin Thearle 1.

Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 16 points.

Phil Stevenson finished in 2nd place on 21 points.

Noel McPherson finished in 3rd place with 29 points, settled by a countback.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Noel McPherson and Robin Tickner.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 6^th March for a Handicap Event.
