We had fifteen DAC Sailors for our Scratch racing today.

The forecast South Easterly was there early on with a swing to the South for the later races. The windspeed was about 12 with gusts to 26 Km/Hr., (7 to 14 Knots).

The Autumn sun reflection is now taking up its position around the downwind marks. Rounding these is a challenge, there is quite a bit of guesswork required.

“B” sails became “C” ‘s for all after race 3.

The earlier course to the East developed some very testy holes. A fresh course to the West brought the sun into play, but we had a better breeze.

There was some very close racing which is becoming the pattern for us. Graham Brown, Phil Stevenson and Noel McPherson had many close tussles with Graham winning the day.

Graham won 5 races and backed that up with 3 second places. His score was 11 points, a clear winner. Always in the contest, Phil Stevenson came home second with 2 wins and 5 places.

The top three places were completed by Noel McPherson. Noel won 2 races and took 4 places to score 22 points.

There was quite a bit of daylight to the remaining Sailors. Bruce Hilliard won race 2 but gear a failure ended his day early.

Apart from Bruce, places only went halfway down the score sheet. Richard Thorpe, Martin Thearle, Stephen Deane and Narelle Derwent featured here with a place or 2 each.

The rest of us still had some good racing with some close finishes testing the scorers.

Race winners were Graham Brown 5, Phil Stevenson 2, Noel McPherson 2 and Bruce Hilliard 1.

Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 11 points.

Phil Stevenson finished in 2nd place on 19 points.

Noel McPherson finished in 3rd place with 22 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Judy Evans.
