DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 28th September 2023

Yesterday 18 DAC Sailors came along for a pleasant day’s sailing.

We enjoyed temps in the low 20’s, a bit of overcast and a light Nor’Easter. The breeze was steady in direction with speeds from 9 up to 17 Km/Hr, (5 to 9 Knots).

“A” sails were it with “B” ‘s appearing for the last race or two.

Some strong winds earlier in the week freed up some weed, several of us suffered but we persevered.

Our Champion for the day was Stephen Deane. Stephen had 3 firsts and a second place to score 16 points and comfortably win overall. Robin Tickner was the main contender and was shadowing Stephen closely for many races. Robin scored 20 points from a win and 4 places. A closely contested third place was taken by Bruce Paterson. Bruce scored 28 points with a win and 2 places. At one stage, Bruce succumbed to weed at the second mark to watch all sail by. If only…..

Phil Stevenson won the last race of the day and completed the top four, who were clearly ahead of the remaining boats.

The following Sailors were all quite competitive with few points difference between them. Places for these went to Graham Brown (a win), Martin Thearle, Peter Close, Narelle Derwent, Terry Hey, Geoff Lucas and Lew Verdon.

Race winners were Stephen Deane 3, Robin Tickner 1, Bruce Paterson 1, Phil Stevenson 1 and Graham Brown 1.

Stephen Deane took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 16 points.

Robin Tickner finished in 2nd place on 20 points.

Bruce Paterson finished in 3rd place with 28 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Noel McPherson and Phil Stevenson.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 5th October for a Handicap Event.
