Thirteen DAC Sailors came along for a Scratch sailing day today.

We enjoyed a dry day with a heavy cloud cover and a Sou’South Easterly wind ranging from 10 to 32 Km/Hr, (6 to 17 Knots).

A very low tide and works to renew our Club deck meant our course had to be set to the Eastern side of the Clubhouse.

The temperature hit the mid 20’s around 1 pm, a comfortable day indeed!

There were many shaded spots from the wind, but we all suffered equally and all managed to sail well on a challenging day.

The Fleet started with a mix of “B” and “C” sails with “B” ‘s all round for the second half.

Our Champion for the day was Phil Stevenson. Phil scored a meager 9 points with 5 firsts and 2 second places. Dropping a second is a luxury. Graham Brown again sailed a very solid day’s performance with 3 firsts and 3 places to come home in second with 14 points. In third place, Robin Tickner scored 26 points with 4 places. All Robin’s scoring finishes were at 6 or better, another solid day’s sailing for Robin.

There was a slight gap for those following, with Judy Evans leading the group with some close scores and a countback. Places went down the page to ninth position with Richard Thorpe winning race 5 and having another comfortable result.

Thanks to Noel McPherson who officiated as Race Officer and ably followed by Bruce and Karen Paterson who alternated for the last races.

Race winners were Phil Stevenson 5, Graham Brown 3 and Richard Thorpe 1.

Phil Stevenson took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 9 points.

Graham Brown finished in 2nd place on 14 points.

Robin Tickner finished in 3rd place with 26 points.

The Club Championship now has Robin Tickner in front from Judy Evans and Phil Hetherington.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 15th February for a Scratch Event.
