DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 11th August 2022

Dobroyd RC Lasers 20220811

Yesterday saw fifteen DAC Sailors compete in our Scratch Event.

There was a heavy overcast, a cool day with a Northerly wind at 5 to 14 Km/Hr, (3-8 Knots).

It was another good sized fleet to assess one’s performance.

The ideal sail was something between an “A” and “B” so they both had a good showing during the day.

Several Course variations and rescues made it a long day so we called it quits after 8 Races.

This was the second last practice before the NSW Titles, to be held here on 21st August.

Graham Brown practiced well with 4 wins and again has his boat sailing beautifully. Graham was the clear winner. Robin Tickner, back after a break, is also in fine form with all his finishes in the front group. Robin came in second place ahead of a large group, right on his heels. The next five boats had their places sorted by countback. Phil Stevenson edged Noel McPherson into fourth place, Phil cemented third place with his 2 wins. Phillip Hetherington, Rob Lowndes and Judy Evans, all on equal points sharing 5th place were eventually sorted into 5th, 6th, and 7th.

These Folks, second through to seventh, were separated by only 6 points. Lots of numbers there, but that was the day.

Many Sailors scored well at some stage, the Racing was close with a couple of dead heats. All was sailed in good spirit.

Race winners were Graham Brown 4, Phil Stevenson 2, Phillip Hetherington 1, and Terry Hey 1.

Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 12 points.

Robin Tickner finished in 2nd place on 23 points.

Phil Stevenson finished in 3rd place with 25 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Peter Close.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 18th August for a Scratch  Event.
