Seventeen DAC Sailors enjoyed a great day by the water. The weather was ideal with temps around 27 degrees and a Nor’Easter at 6 to 12 Km/Hr, gusting to 18, (4-7 gusting 10 Knots).

We chose “B” sails at the start, “C” ‘s taking over about midway with a couple of “D” ‘s intruding at the end.

Another large Fleet called for Race Officers to be nominated for each Race, thank you to those who accepted the challenge. It’s amazing how well behaved we can be when they are watching!

We welcome Narelle O’Donnell to our Fleet, skippering #75. Narelle has a long history with our Club and it’s good to see her back on the water with us.

Graham Brown scored well all day. Despite having varied starts, he seemed to clear the various log-jams around marks with few penalties and ended with all bar one wins and places. Graham won the day with a clear margin on 15 points. Noel McPherson led the followers to come home in second place on 27 points. Noel had a win, 2 places and all his finishes at 5 or better to take second place. Stephen Deane took third place on the podium. Two second places and all his finishes in the top group gave Stephen 38 points.

There were varying degrees of success right down the scoresheet.

Brendan Hones had a comfortable win in Race 4 and with a couple of places later on, took 4th place overall. Phil Stevenson suffered a few tangles during the day which dented his scoresheet. Phil still managed 3 wins to earn fifth. Richard Thorpe started with places in the first three Races to enjoy a good day, Bruce and Karen Paterson had some places and good finishes between them. Narelle O’Donnell came a popular second in Race 9.

The remaining places went well down the page to complete a good day on the water, enjoyed by all.

Race winners were Graham Brown 4, Noel McPherson 1, Brendan Hones 1,  Phil Stevenson 3 and Geoff Lucas 1.

Graham Brown took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 15 points.

Noel McPherson finished in 2nd place on 27 points.

Stephen Deane finished in 3rd place with 38 points.

The Club Championship now has Noel McPherson in front from Phil Stevenson and Graham Brown.

There are some minor variations in the Club Championship scoring where adjustments for missed days are fine tuned for a fairer outcome.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 23rd February for a Scratch Event.
