Thursday was one of those days with a bit of everything. It was a heavy overcast, but cool and dry. A Southerly, unless you were East of the Deck, in that case it was from the Northeast. That is, the Clubhouse shadow played a large part.

We had several Course changes, Graham Brown set one which had us sailing and fourteen DAC Sailors were able to run 9 Races.

“A” ‘s for most Races with ”B” ‘s for the last two, were the Fleet’s choice.

The first Race started out as a drifter with a few patches of breeze for encouragement. Once the wind settled (sort of), Phil Stevenson fell into his groove and won or placed all his next scoring Races. Four firsts gave Phil a very clear win. Graham Brown started sailing with Ivan Schlederer’s boat #197, as Graham’s “A” sail didn’t quite make it to his car, (R.I.P. Ivan). When the breeze reached “B” strength, Graham launched his trusty #87 and promptly won or placed the next four Races, Graham placed a clear second. Noel McPherson again displayed his consistency with a win and several places, coming in third. Noel led the next bunch of boats and kept them well at bay, as those trailing were always a challenge.

Wins or places once again, went well down the page, you really have to sail well consistently to reach the top positions.

Race winners were Phil Stevenson 4, Graham Brown 1, Noel McPherson 1, Phillip Hetherington 1, Rob Lowndes 1, Brian Chapman 1.

Phil Stevenson took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 12 points.

Graham Brown finished in 2nd place on 24 points.

Noel McPherson finished in 3rd place with 30 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Peter Close. Our next Sail day is Thursday 1st September for a Handicap Event.
