Dobroyd RC Lasers 20230309

Twelve DAC Sailors came along for our Scratch Event today.

A beautiful sunny afternoon saw temperatures hovering around the high 20’s and mostly clear skies.

The wind was another story. All directions had a guernsey except North East.

Brendan Hones and I set and changed several Courses before setting on one favouring the Nor’West. And that we sailed.

The windspeed ranged from 9 to 11 Km/Hr with the highest gust reaching 26, (5 to 7 Knots, gusting 14).

We chose “B” sails with a range of “A” ‘s and “C” ‘s appearing at various stages of the day.

The good ship #155 sailed by Robin Tickner, mastered the varying conditions and won the day. Robin scored 3 wins, 3 seconds and a third place to secure his comfortable win with 12 points. Graham Brown, also with 3 wins, had a second and third place to come home in second place overall on 17 points. Philip Hetherington closely followed the first two Gents, with 2 wins and all high finishes, but had to settle with third place on 21 points. Judy Evans had another great day on the water. Judy scored 3 places and all finishes at the front end of the Fleet. Noel McPherson managed his all his finishes at 6 or better with Brendan Hones not far behind to settle the top six.

Places went to Sailors right down the scoresheet with Geoff Lucas winning Race 1.

The Scoresheet looked almost like a Handicap day, but Scratch it was. All Sailors demonstrated their abilities to score well against our best.

Race winners were Robin Tickner 3,  Graham Brown 3, Philip Hetherington 2 and Geoff Lucas 1.

Robin Tickner took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 12 points.

Graham Brown finished in 2nd place on 17 points.

Philip Hetherington finished in 3rd place also with 21 points.

The Club Championship now has Noel McPherson in front from Graham Brown and Phil Stevenson.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 16th March for a Scratch Event.
