DAC Results, Scratch Racing, Thu 9th June 2022

Dobroyd RC Lasers 20220609

It was a cold and blustery day for our Sailing yesterday and thirteen DAC Sailors came along to enjoy a day by the water.

The temperature managed to reach 16C while the wind ranged from 20 up to 44 Km/Hr, (11-23 Knots).

Choosing the right sail was difficult with “C” ‘s being the main choice. These struggled in the gusts on the downwind legs. Some “D” ‘s came out on occasions but these suffered in the lighter patches. At one stage between Races I recall making 2 sail changes, before returning to the original.

We managed to have a good day and got through our 10 Races in good time.

Robin Tickner did well to stay out of mischief and really had a great day winning 4 Races and with nothing lower than 4th, he won the Event.

Noel McPherson was next with 3 wins and 3 places, 1 point behind was Graham Brown with 2 wins and all places. These 3 Sailors dominated the Results and were well clear of the field by 11 points. Philip Hetherington, Phil Stevenson and Peter Close were the main challengers to follow. They formed a close knit group with many places and a win in Race 1 for Phil.

There was a fair gap to the rest of us. Terry Hey and David Moont each had a second place. Bruce Hilliard returned after a long break and was able to spend some time towards the front and had some good finishes to complete his day.

Race winners were, Robin Tickner 4, Noel McPherson 3, Graham Brown 2, and Phil Stevenson 1.

Robin Tickner took the honours for the day to win 1st place on 18 points.

Noel McPherson finished in 2nd place on 20 points.

Graham Brown finished in 3rd place with 21 points.

The Club Championship now has Graham Brown in front from Phil Stevenson and Robin Tickner.

Our next Sail day is Thursday 16th June for a Scratch Event.
