Long time New South Wales Radio Yachting member and model yacht historian, Stephen Crewes has sadly passed away.

On behalf of all our NSW members, we extend our condolences to Steve’s family, relatives and friends. Steve was a highly respected member of the Radio Sailing Community and was the Australian Radio Yachting Association Historian up until 2016. Steve was a veteran of Model Yachting in this country competing from the mid nineteen sixties, when most boats were wood and sailed with a vane steering up until his stroke several years ago.

Anyone who has read the stories or seen the photo’s in Steve’s books on the history of model yacht racing in Australia will understand what an important role he played in educating current  sailors on the sport’s colourful history. 

He will be sadly missed.
